JT Club is an independent, member-run owners community. This notice covers everyone who applies for membership, uses the forum, reserves an event seat, or applies for a supplier listing.
What we collect
When you join, we ask for three things: your full name, your email address, and the chapter nearest you. You can also tell us which model you drive or are shopping for, but that is optional and nothing depends on it. We no longer ask for a mobile number at all.
We deliberately do not ask for your VIN, licence details, or vehicle papers. Joining is a hello, not a vetting, and we collect the minimum POPIA lets us get away with — because the less we hold, the less can go wrong.
If you post on the forum, we store what you write, attached to your member number and your handle. Your real name is not published anywhere on this site — the register, the forum and every page that mentions a member use a handle and a number instead.
How applications currently reach us
JT Club is a young club, and the membership system is still being built. Right now, submitting the application form opens a pre-filled email to hello@jtclub.co.za — it does not save automatically to a database. Once the proper membership system is live, this notice will be updated, and applications already received will migrate into it under the same terms described here.
Why we collect it
- To issue your membership number and add you to the register
- To route your details to the right chapter lead so they can welcome you
- To contact you about your application, your reserved events, or forum moderation
- To attribute your forum posts and event participation to your permanent member number
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build a marketing profile of you.
Who sees it
Your details are seen only by your chapter lead and the club's founders. Suppliers listed in the directory never receive member information, regardless of any arrangement they may have with the club. This is a standing policy, not a promise that changes with any future partnership.
How long we keep it
Your membership record — name, handle, number, chapter, and vehicle if you shared one — is kept for as long as you're a member, because the register depends on it. Of those, only the handle, number and chapter are ever shown publicly, and the roll itself is kept for members. If you leave the club, your permanent number is retired, not reassigned, and your personal contact details are deleted; your forum contributions may remain, attributed to your former number, unless you request their removal.
Your rights under POPIA
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- Tell you exactly what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and personal details entirely
Email hello@jtclub.co.za for any of the above. If you believe we've mishandled your information, you're entitled to complain to South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za) — we'd rather you told us first, but that right is yours regardless.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use advertising trackers or sell data to third parties. Basic, anonymous traffic analytics may be used to understand which pages are useful — never anything that identifies you individually without your account being involved.
Questions
This notice is written to be genuinely readable, not to bury consent in legal boilerplate — if anything above is unclear, email hello@jtclub.co.za and a founder will answer directly.
